About Accreditation
Welcome to the Global Education Accreditation Council (GEAC), a US-based international accrediting body dedicated to strengthening educational institutions through rigorous, outcomes-driven quality assurance. Our mission is to support institutional excellence while respecting academic autonomy, enabling schools and higher education providers to thrive in diverse educational contexts.

What is GEAC Accreditation?

GEAC accreditation is an internationally recognised mark of institutional quality. It confirms that an organisation has undergone a comprehensive, independent evaluation against GEAC’s standards for governance, academic systems, and student outcomes. Accreditation with GEAC demonstrates a clear commitment to quality assurance, transparency, and continuous improvement—without the imposition of prescribed curricula or teaching frameworks.

The Accreditation Process

-
Initial Application Submission:
Institutions submit a formal application and supporting documentation demonstrating compliance with GEAC’s standards for governance, academic oversight, quality assurance systems, and institutional effectiveness. Institutions retain full authority over curriculum, assessment, and awards. -
Desk-Based Review:
GEAC conducts a structured desk-based review of submitted evidence to assess institutional readiness and alignment with GEAC standards. This stage confirms whether the institution is eligible to proceed to external evaluation. -
External Peer Review (Site Visit):
A trained peer review team undertakes an external evaluation, including a site visit (in person or virtual as appropriate). The review focuses on governance, leadership, teaching and learning systems, student support, safeguarding, and the effectiveness of internal quality assurance processes. -
Accreditation Decision & Reporting:
Accreditation decisions are made independently in accordance with GEAC policies and procedures. Institutions receive a formal accreditation report outlining outcomes, commendations, recommendations, and any conditions or monitoring requirements. -
Institutional Membership:
GEAC operates a strictly institutional (B2B-only) accreditation model. Accreditation is granted to organisations—not individuals—and remains valid only while institutional membership is maintained. Once an institution receives an accreditation decision from the GEAC, it must become an institutional member in order to formally begin its status as an accredited institution. Membership confirms an institution’s commitment to ongoing quality assurance, transparency, and engagement with GEAC standards throughout the accreditation cycle. -
Ongoing Monitoring & Continuous Improvement:
Accredited institutions engage in periodic monitoring and reporting for the duration of the accreditation cycle. Continued accreditation is contingent upon active institutional membership and demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement. Professional development access and guidance are provided through institutional membership.

Benefits of GEAC Accreditation

-
US-Based International Accreditation:
GEAC accreditation signals that an institution has met rigorous quality assurance standards under a US-based accrediting body with international reach, supporting institutional credibility in both domestic and cross-border contexts. -
Institutional Autonomy & Flexibility:
GEAC does not impose curricular frameworks or programme structures. Accreditation evaluates governance, academic systems, and outcomes, allowing institutions to retain full control over curriculum design, assessment, and awards. -
Ongoing Quality Assurance:
Accreditation is embedded within a multi-year cycle that includes structured monitoring and reporting, reinforcing continuous institutional oversight rather than one-time compliance. -
International Benchmarking & Visibility:
Accredited institutions form part of the GEAC international network, enabling benchmarking against peer institutions, enhanced global visibility, and participation in an internationally recognised quality assurance framework. -
Stakeholder Assurance & Transparency:
GEAC accreditation provides assurance to students, families, partners, and regulators through independent review, published accreditation status, and clear accountability mechanisms.
