About the event
Students with ADHD and ADD are often misunderstood as disengaged, disorganized, or unmotivated. This virtual workshop reframes these behaviors through a neuro-pedagogical lens, helping educators understand ADHD/ ADD as a challenge of executive functioning rather than intelligence or effort.
Participants will explore the core executive functions—working memory, inhibitory control, and cognitive flexibility—using the “Maestro Analogy,” a powerful visual framework that explains the gap between a student’s potential (the musicians) and their ability to perform consistently (the conductor).
Grounded in Differentiated Instruction and Universal Design for Learning (UDL), the session offers practical, classroom-ready strategies across all age groups:
Tier 1 – Universal Supports: Neuro-inclusive routines, visual clarity, and instructional structures that benefit all learners.
Tier 2 – Targeted Scaffolds: Tools for students with ADD, including visual anchors, task navigation roadmaps, and executive prompts.
Tier 3 – Intensive Accommodations: ADHD-specific strategies such as structured movement breaks, segmented assessments, and executive coaching techniques.
